This guide shows you exactly how to do it, with two methods: via the Railway HRMS web portal and via the RESS mobile app.
Method 1 — Download Salary Slip from HRMS Web Portal
- Open your browser and go to: hrms.indianrail.gov.in/HRMS
- Login with your HRMS ID and password. Enter the OTP received on your mobile.
- You are now on your HRMS dashboard. Look at the left sidebar menu.
- Click on ESS (Employee Self Service) to expand the menu.
- Under ESS, look for Salary / Pay Slip or Financial Details → Salary Slip.
- Click on it. A new page opens showing salary slip options.
- Select the Pay Period — choose the Month and Year for which you want the slip.
- Click View or Download.
- Your salary slip appears on screen as a PDF. Click Download to save it.

RESS (Railway Employee Self Service) is an official mobile app by CRIS — available on Android via Google Play Store. It shows salary details, NPS deductions, PF ledger, income tax projections, and digitally signed Form 16. It is separate from the main HRMS app.
- Download the RESS app from Google Play Store — search “RESS Railway Employee Self Service”.
- Register using your Employee Number, Mobile Number, and Date of Birth.
- An OTP is sent to your registered mobile. Enter it to complete registration.
- Login with your Employee Number and the password set during registration.
- On the app dashboard, tap Salary Details or Payslip.
- Select the financial year and month.
- Tap Download to save the salary slip as PDF.
